Hilltop honours Flames U-17 star

Hilltop Foundation in Mzuzu on Wednesday honoured the Flames Under-17 star Patrick Mwaungulu for his impressive display at the 2017 Council for Southern Africa Football Association (Cosafa) Under-17 tournament which took place in Mauritius from July 21 to 30.

Mwaungulu, a graduate of Mzuzu City Hilltop Foundation Under-14 League, helped Malawi win bronze, scoring two goals against Zimbabwe and Mauritius.

The Chibavi Secondary School Form Three student, who plays for FMB Under-20 league outfit Sanweka FC, received a pair of boots and a match ball.

Hilltop Foundation director Gilder Vincent Munthali said they are happy that their under-14 league is contributing to the development of football in the country.

“It is important that we encourage the young talent for the good display at the Cosafa Cup,” she said.

Northern Region Youth Football Association (NRYFA) chairperson Mwayi Mwaza commended Hilltop Foundation for recognising the unique achievement of the player Mwaungulu.

The player thanked Hilltop Foundation for giving him the platform to shine and for the donation. n
